About myself
My name is Julie Metz. I grew up in the alpine foothills of Bavaria under the highest mountain of Germany and sourounded by mountains, forests, rivers and lakes. My ancestors were sheperds in the mountains and lived closely to the earth. Me, myself I am a Capricorn, a mountain goat navigating the terrains of the wild, the earth. I grew up in a very safe and natural environment with nature as a big part of my upbringing. I have been immersed and bathed in the waters of the land as a baby by my mother and carried up mountains on the supporting back of my father. Nature has always been a crucial part of my life. Mountains and forests resemble my home and ancestral grounding roots.

But for a long time I did not feel rooted at all, so I travelled to find adventure, meaning, purpose, roots, wisdom, home. I actually found myself on a search for Self and contemplating my part of the story of earth and sky. In every place that I have travelled, I found certain parts of myself through experiencing life. I learned early in my teenage years that living life fully and going on adventures that challenge my comfort zone, is my type of school, my way of discovery and growth.
I feel deeply blessed to have had years and years of nature immersions through my upbringing and the scout movement in my teens. This shaped me deeply. I grew up in a divorced family and experienced difficult times, so in my scout community I found a tribe that was connected to nature and all about learning by doing, experiential learning.

When i finished school, I had the opportunity to travel to South Africa for a voluntary year in a kindergarden in one of the most dangerous townships of Cape Town. This turned out to be a life changing experience and will shape my journey forever. After this time I went back to Germany and studied cultural and social anthropology for about a year before moving to Austria to study educational science in the mountains with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Afterwards I specialised in outdoor adventure-based education through living, studying and working in one of the biggest forests of Germany. Equipped with all this knowledge I travelled again and embarked on an adventure and experience that brought me back to South Africa where I started a journey of self-discovery, finding roots and connection to my ancestors.
I live on the southern tip of Africa, thousands of kilometres away from my home mountains where I was born and where my ancestors lived. The drastic change of environment and the distance helped me to realise and feel that home is not bound to a geographical place. Home is within ourselves and in the nature around us, our ancestors are present wherever we are, and by connecting to the earth and the sky, my home is wherever I am. This deep knowing I weave into my work and assist people to connect more deeply to their home inside themselves, their nature, connecting to their story. I have an understanding that humans are nature, and that we live just like any other living organism according to nature’s laws, rhythms and cycles. We are made out of the same elements like everything around us. So if you would like to change anything in your present existence, you will need to work with the fundamental elements of your existence. In my holistic elemental coaching, I guide you to work with the elements and accompany you on a journey of healing and transformation.
This was about 6 years ago. Since then I have continued the adventure of life being based in Cape Town, sometimes living nomadic and finding new special places all over South Africa where I deeply connect with nature, myself, the people and land, culture and community, the mountains and waters, the oceans, the wild coast of the Eastern Cape, the rocks of the Cederberg or the hectic winds of Cape Town…
I travelled to India twice where I spent most of my time in the himalayan foothills studying Yoga and soaking up stories and philosophies from my teachers. I experienced the mountains as wisdom keepers, and nature and forests as my grounding allies, the night sky with its stars as my guiding trusting light and the people as my teachers.
I keep finding myself in different mountain and nature settings, but all of these have one thing in common which is their teaching about life and the interconnectedness of things. I have been held so gently by the earth and the sky, and they have taught me through their stories how to hold and guide gently by being in service to the earth and its inhabitants. I have spent my life developing my passions and gifts and I want to share these by supporting you in your journey of self-discovery and assisting you in reconnecting to your true nature.
